In order for grades to populate the report card, you need to link your GradeBook, assignments and/or assessments. How you link these will depend on how your district DnA administrator created the report cards in DnA.
Before You Begin
In order to establish Data Links between your DnA Gradebook and Report Cards, make sure to:
- Have at least 1 Gradebook created in your account
- Preferably to have at least 2 assignments in a Points-Based Gradebook, or 5 assignments in a Standards-Based Gradebook
- Assignments inputted to meet your organization's report card best practices as shared by your Administrators
Where to Start
- Click on the Grades tab.
- Under Report Cards, select Data Links.
Choose Grading Period & Report Card
- Select the Grading Period from the drop down menu and click Load.
- Select the Report Card from the drop down menu and click Load Report Card.
If Report Cards are not available, please contact your DnA Administrator.
Setting Up Data Links
There are two types of data links depending on the setup and structure of the report card: Automatic and Manual Data Links. Depending on the setup and structure of the report card, you may need to complete both links or just one.
In the Automatic Report Card Links section, enter all gradebooks that need to be linked to the report card automatically:
- Only if assignments within selected gradebooks are aligned to standards or report card areas will gradebook scores link and appear on the report card
- To review how areas in the Report Card are structured, visit the Score Breakdown menu in the entry screen
- If an assessment is contained in the GradeBook, the system will only use the score from the assessment. It will not double count a score
- If an assignment is linked to multiple standards, the system will apply the assignment overall score to each standard on the report card
The following scenarios assume the district has set up the report card with fields linked to standards:
- The report card has a field for RW1.3. My GradeBook has assignments that are linked to standard RW1.3. I want an average of all assignments in my Gradebook to populate this field
- I have an assessment linked to RW1.3 that is not in my GradeBook. I want to make this score part of the average for the final mark on the report card
Use this only if your assignments are linked to standards and report card fields are linked to standards by the report card creator.
In the Manual Data Links section, type and enter all gradebooks that need to be linked to the report card automatically:
- For each area, type enter the GradeBook(s) which the system will use to populate on the report card
- If applicable, type and enter specific GradeBook Assignments by entering the GradeBook assignment(s) which the system will use to populate the report card (optional)
- If a GradeBook is using categories, the Gradebook must be linked by GradeBook, not by GradeBook assignments
- If applicable, type and enter specific Assessments which the system will use to populate your report card
- My GradeBook has assignments linked to standards and I want the overall grade on the report card
- My GradeBook has assignments that are not linked to standards and I want the overall grade on the report card
- I want to choose specific GradeBook assignments to determine a mark in one of the report card fields
- I want to choose specific assessments to determine a mark in one of the report card fields
Use this if your GradeBooks, GradeBook Assignments, and/or Assessments may be linked to standards but the report card fields are NOT linked to standards by the report card creator.
