A: The actual technical switch is very simple and straightforward. Simply let your Illuminate Implementation Manager know and they will schedule the time.
A: No. Lightning Grader works in a very similar and seamless manner. The majority of the Illuminate client base has already switched. Clients have consistently shared feedback about how simple and easy the process was for their users.
A: GradeCam-specific answer sheets can be scanned in Illuminate until November 22, after that they will no longer be valid in Illuminate.
A: Lightning Grader’s camera grading functionality will only work in the Chrome browser. Support for Firefox, Safari, and Edge are on our roadmap. File upload grading will work with any browser (except Internet Explorer).
A: The Chrome browser is the only software required to use Lightning Grader’s camera grading. All other features of Lightning Grader require no special software.
A: No. Lightning Grader does not require you to download a plugin.
A: Lightning Grader only supports Chrome while GradeCam supports other browsers. Lightning Grader only supports UVC compliant cameras and GradeCam supports some specialized and/or older non-UVC compliant cameras.
A: Several benefits will be realized by switching to Lightning Grader. First, Lightning Grader is tightly integrated into Illuminate. Second, Illuminate provides full support and maintenance for Lightning Grader. Finally, compared to the integrated version of GradeCam you will experience additional functionality including constructed response question types supported in Illuminate.

A: All cameras marketed with the description "web cam" adhere to UVC standards and are viewable in Lightning Grader to date. Note that some low budget or older models have low quality (grainy, blurry, low light intolerant) images. Many newer (2013 or later) document cameras are UVC compliant and will work with Lightning Grader. Please test or confirm that a specific camera will work before a bulk purchase. Please see the list of compatible cameras HERE.
A. We do not currently work on mobile phones or tablets.
A: Lightning Grader will work with any Elmo cameras that are UVC compliant. Elmo claims that the TT-12i and TT-12iD models are both UVC compliant. This has been confirmed with Lightning Grader. Older non-UVC compliant Elmo cameras will NOT work with Lightning Grader due to the proprietary software required.
A: Yes, but there are limitations on the number and type of questions you can have on an assessment. If your district uses older Sharpat kits please contact your IM.
