The Getting Started with Data and Assessment (DnA) e-learning course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of DnA and its application in educational settings. This course helps educators and administrators understand how to create, administer, and analyze various assessments, including formative, benchmark, and summative types. It demonstrates how educators can use DnA to make data-driven decisions that enhance student performance and mastery of standards while minimizing excessive testing. The course covers access to a vast item bank, custom assessment creation, and pre-built assessments, along with real-time interaction during exams through Live Proctoring. Additionally, it explains how curriculum and assessment administrators, site leaders, and district leaders can leverage DnA for effective resource allocation, policy decisions, and program evaluation. DnA offers multiple assessment types to fit the type of assessment each teacher needs. In this course, learn how to create each available assessment type. All Item Bank assessments allow users to pull questions from banks ranging from user created questions to purchased vendor banks of questions in order to create an assessment targeted towards one or more standards. Flexible assessments allow teachers to create an assessment based on a PDF they have already created and simply inset an answer key. Standards and question groups can be aligned for a higher level of reporting. For primary teachers, Skills assessments provide the ability to asses students one on one for subjects such as phonics, sight words, colors, shapes, and more. And On the Fly assessments provide the ability for a quick check of understanding, like an exit ticket. All of these assessment options allow assessment creators flexible options for creating an assessment that fits their needs and gauge student success and progress.

After students have been assessed, some questions require teacher scoring, which occurs from the Enter/Edit screen. Additionally, this course provides information on assessment details that can be edited by the author, as well as updating the performance bands to have performance levels that fit the specific assessment, and filtering students to get a more granular look at student performance.

Personalized Review Assignments (PRAs) are resources for students to review after they have completed an assessment. In this course, learn the details of what a PRA is, how to set it up, what students see, and how to review student PRAs after they have been completed. The user that creates the PRA has full customization options and determines how many resources students need to review after completing an assessment based on performance. This allows for immediate action for students to continue to build on their learning and understanding on concepts they may have struggled on or to continue to grow and learn about more complex concepts if they were proficient on their assessment.
