This lesson will guide you through adding a Window Column to a Custom Report.
What is a Window Column?
A Window Column runs your report with all other columns first, then it walks through the results. It looks at the groups of records, and calculates a value for each group.
Think of it like this:
I want to calculate ______, by looking at ________, and sorting those values by _______, then I want to calculate and show this for each ________.
Many times this can be useful for things like: getting the most recent score from multiple attempts at an assessment, to get percentages of a total, or to get a sum to then filter by total transcript units.
Where to Start
1. Once in a Custom Report, select the Advanced tab.
2. Click Add a Window Column.
Creating your Window Column
3. Give your column a name.
4. Use the dropdown menus to selecting your Window Column grouping. The Display dropdown is what you ultimately want shown in this column.
5. Once you've selected your ordering and sort (See example below), click Save.
Once you've clicked Save, select View at the top of the page to see your new Window Column in action on your Custom Report.
