Assessment Matrix Report – DnA & ISE

Description: This is an abstract for the Assessment Matrix Report, which shows a breakdown of an assessment by question, question group, or standard for each individual student and overall.

Purpose: To compare a single student's performance on a question, question group, or standard, and then to analyze those individual results by class.

Navigation: Reports > View Reports > Prebuilt > Assessment Matrix Report

Try It

1. Objective: Learn how to utilize the Matrix Report to analyze student performance based on standards assessment data.

2. While prebuilt reports may be found within the Reports tab, starting from the Assessment will automatically link the chosen assessment to the report.

Use the tile short cut, select View Assessments

3. Students have completed the Earthquake Engineering assessment.

Select the assessment title to proceed.

4. Frequently accessed reports are displayed prominently at the top of the Overview page.

Select Matrix to begin your analysis.

5. The report offers various aggregation and organization options. The default view is question-based, but can be arranged by Question Group or Standard. Select the Group By dropdown menu.

6. The Standards view has been selected for you.

Choose "View in browser" to continue.

7. Review overall performance metrics and item type distribution data.

Select the highlighted area for additional insights.

8. Performance data is currently organized by standard, as previously selected. Alternative organizations by group or question were available on the previous screen.

9. The aggregate standard performance appears in this column, with overall standards performance (78%) displayed in the header.

10. For Item Bank assessments, selecting any question number reveals detailed item information, including distractor rationales.

Select question 6 to view.

11. From this view, access question content, answer options, distractor rationales, correct responses, Standards, Question Groups, and additional details without returning to the Item Bank.

12. This report helps identify potential assessment validity concerns, such as students randomly selecting answers.

Who is the intended audience?

Teachers

What data is reported?

A list of students by name and a list of questions by number. For each question the class average performance for the question is listed, as well as individual student performance per question. The color-coding per question uses the following defaults:

Correct (Green)
Incorrect (Red with their chosen answer)
Partially Correct (Yellow with their chosen answer)

If the assessment type is Item Bank or Flexible, question details can be viewed by clicking the question number along the top of the report.

How is the data reported?

By question, class average, question type and correct answer at left, then student names along the top. The overall student score is at the top under each student's name, followed by their individual correct/incorrect answers for all questions on the test. This report can also be run by question group and standard.
