This lesson covers one of a series of steps appropriate for districts or schools wanting to establish a system of common assessments. See the "Step 1. Where to Start on Your Road to Common Assessments" lesson if you wish to start at the beginning. Otherwise, keep reading. This lesson addresses the following:
Goal: Create and/or revise components

- Review resources
- Other tasks will vary; for example, 1 grade/subject-specific team (of mainly teachers) might work on a pacing guide, whereas a grade/subject-specific team that already has a pacing guide might work on modifying, or creating a test, etc.
Distribute and review materials that will help team members craft their components. For example:
- Completed Action Plan Forms
- Recorded answers from the "Determine Some Specifics for Assessment Structure" step of the "Step 6. Determine Specifics" lesson.
- Completed Assessment Recommendation Overview Form
- Completed Current Pacing Guide Details Form and/or Current Assessment Details Form (based on items the team will be revising)
- State Content Standards and/or National Common Core Standards
- Crosswalk Documents (available from different sources) show how State Content Standards and/or National Common Core Standards (available for core subjects like English and Math)
- Released Test Questions
- Bloom's Taxonomy
- Sample components (e.g., pacing guides, assessments, testing calendars, etc.) acquired and reviewed in a previous lesson.
- Glossary and goal reviewed in a previous lesson.
- Articles reviewed in a previous lesson.
- Assessments and/or assessment questions available for use
- Texts and curriculum

Tasks Will Vary
Before Your Next Meeting(s)
1. Plan to provide copies of the completed Action Plan Forms for everyone.
2. Plan to provide copies of the completed Assessment Recommendation Overview Form for everyone.
3. Plan to provide everyone with access (e.g., electronically) to all completed assessment components, such as all assessments intended for future use (whether they were purchased, previously in use, or newly revised or created), all pacing guides, and any assessment calendars already developed (explained more in next lesson).
4. Review the next lesson to see if there's anything else you'll want to prepare ahead of time.
