This lesson outlines the setup of Student Comment Categories and Types. These are comments that can be input in various areas in the system (i.e. Health, Behavior, etc.) and will display on a student's profile.
Where to Start

1. Select the Admin Gear > Code Management.

2. Under Code Management, search "comment" and you will find Comment Categories and Comment Types. Categories is considered the big picture like "Parent Meeting" and Type would be considered the details like "Created IEP."
Comment Categories

1. To add a Comment Category, select Comment Categories from the dropdown menu and click Load.
2. This will populate a list of your Comment Categories Codes. If you are creating a code, click Add Code at the top of the page.

3. Code Key doesn’t particularly matter as it is for internal use only so just input something unique. For example, you can use 1, 2, 3, for different comment types/categories. System Key and System Key Translation are not required fields. These are used for prebuilt codes that use system keys to trigger other alerts or actions throughout Illuminate's tools.
4. Type in your Code Translation, which is what your users will see in the dropdown. Example: Call Log
5. For Module Name, select one of the following: Behavior, Health, Language, Special Ed, or Student.
6. Finally, be sure to select the Site or District (for all sites) where this code should be available.
7. Be sure to click Save when finished. This code category will then populate in the Student Comments area as well as on your Comment Category Codes list.
Comment Types

1. To add a Comment Type, select Comment Types from the dropdown menu and click Load.
