This lesson describes how to update FTE information for a selected student.
This is extremely helpful for assigning accurate FTE to a student less than six years of age as well as for helping to ensure that the correct FTE is assigned for students with special circumstances.
This lesson requires that you have selected a student and are viewing a single student's record. If you are unsure how to locate a student, see the "Find a Student" lesson in the "Students" manual for help.
Where to start
After opening a student's record (see the "Find a Student" lesson in the "Students" manual for help):
1. Click the Students tab.
2. Click on Student FTE Details.
Add, Edit, and/or Delete Student FTE Details
1. Click Add to add an FTE Type.
2. Click Edit to change FTE Details (i.e., FTE Type, Start Date, and End Date).
3. Remove an FTE Type from this student by clicking the Delete button.
Important Note: The FTE Type will automatically default to Standard with the start and end dates populated from the student's most recent IEP.
*For students Birth to age 5, you MUST manually change the FTE Type due to IDEA requirements. For more information on maximum and minimum FTE see the "Overview of FTE- General Information, Hours, Options, & Description" lesson in this manual.
Add or Edit an FTE Type
1. Clicking Add or Edit will open up the FTE Type menu in the same screen.
2. From the drop down menu, select the FTE Type that you would like to assign to this student. For more information about FTE Types, see the "Overview of FTE- General Information, Hours, Options, & Description" lesson in this manual.
3. Using the Date Picker Icon select the appropriate Start Date and End Date for the FTE Type.
4. Click Submit to finalize the change.
Note: Certain FTE Types are attached to pre-set FTE values (i.e. Homebound/Hospitalized= 1.0 FTE, Birth-2= Max. 0.4 FTE, etc.). For more information on FTE Types and maximum FTE, see the "Overview of FTE- General Information, Hours, Options, & Description" lesson in this manual.
Notice the Difference in FTE Based on FTE Type
Note: The FTE Type directly impacts the way that FTE is calculated. In this example, the Standard FTE is based off of 1098 building clock hours (state mandated minimum) whereas the 3-5 Program FTE Type is based off of 360 building clock hours (state mandated minimum); therefore, the FTE is calculated differently for each FTE type. For more information on FTE Types, see the "Overview of FTE- General Information, Hours, Options, & Description."
