This lesson will guide you through reviewing a student's Standards-Based Gradebook within the DnA Parent Portal.

Where to Start
- Click the Gradebook Tile.

- Click the Gradebook tab in the navigation bar.
- Click the title of the Gradebook.
Gradebook Overview
The Gradebook Overview page displays the following:
About This Section:
The Description of the Gradebook contains the following information:
- Gradebook title.
- Gradebook Calculation Method. Click the (?) icon to learn more about the Calculation Method set for the Gradebook.
- Teacher Name.
- Number of Gradebook assignments.
About This Section:
The Grade Scale of the Grade Breakdown displays the range of overall marks or grades given to a student. The Teacher and/or Site Administrators determine the grade scale in support of Standards-Based Grading Practices, typically on a scale of 1 to 4. Each level is labeled a level of mastery such as Minimal Understanding or Thorough Understanding. These levels are assigned to students for an assignments linked to particular standards or skills.
You can change which scores you want to see by deselecting the scores under Score Filter (5).
What is Standards-Based grading?
Standards-Based grading, sometimes called 'Proficiency Grading', is a grading practice to measure how students are doing in meeting mastery of learning goals (or standards) for the grade level they are in. Standards, or learning goals, are the academic skills your child should know or be able to do for his grade level by the end of the school year.
About This Section:
The Standard Scores section of the Grade Breakdown displays the overall mark (level of mastery) the student is receiving per standard in the Gradebook.
Select the Times Assessed (6) to see the Standard Summary pop-up window for that standard.
The Standard Summary pop-up displays the assignments linked to the standard you are viewing.
About This Section:
Assignments will display a list of all active assignments within the Gradebook with the following details:
- Assignment Name: Click the title of the assignment to see the assignment details. A pop-up window will appear, providing details such as Date Assigned, Due Date (if different than assignment, Points Possible, Attachments (if applied), and Student Score earned on the assignment (See example below).
- Points Possible: Displays what the student earned in reference to the total on the grade scale. A Missing tag will display to indicate the assignment is missing.
- Custom or Other Marks: Displays if a different character was entered in place of an assignment score such as X for Excused, L for Late, etc.
- Due Date: The date when the score will affect or change the student's overall mark in that standard and contribute to the overall mark for the Gradebook.
- Notes: Hover over the paper icon to view notes the teacher has entered for the assignment.
Assignment Details Pop-Up
About This Section:
By default, the Gradebooks will be set to the Assignment Status (12) Show All, displaying all assignments within the Gradebook.
- Assignment Status: Use the dropdown to filter for specific assignments - Show All, Excused, Missing Assignments, or With Zeros.
- To activate the filter, click Submit.
- To print and download a copy of the Assignment List, click Print Displayed.
