The CALPADS Data Validation Logs provide reports that show low-level errors in your California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) data. This includes required values that are missing in the data, and data that do not follow the CALPADS data formatting guidelines.
It is important to note that certain types of errors cannot be caught at this stage because they involve data that is present only in CALPADS.
Where to Start

1. Click on Reports.
2. Under Admin, select Select Reporting.
Once on the state reporting tools list, and you have selected one, click Validation Logs to access the Validation Log for this extract.
View Log

To view more information about a particular CALPADS data export, click view details in front of it.

A list of validation errors encountered (while generating the file) is displayed.

For extracts that deal with student data (such as the SINF Student Information extract), the Student ID and SSID are displayed along with each error message.
You may opt to click a Student ID to view the studentʼs demographics page.
Transfer Records

The CALPADS export (SINF) error log (Data Validation Logs) will cautiously report any student who has a transfer record and any missing data/info relating to that transfer, for the year. Charters may see the above errors.
This specific error can be disregarded because Charters don't need to report these students' transfers to CALPADS. Because of all the different variations of Transfer Reasons that charters and non-charters have been creating, we don't have any specific codes that we can exclude/filter from this report at the moment.
However, if users do want to report transfers still, then the error means that they are missing specific state ID Mapping codes for the Transfer District (Code Management > Transfer District > (Edit the transfer district) > Add the 7 digit County District code under the State ID Mappings).
If that's already set, then users need to visit the Transfer Reason (Code Management > Student Transfers - Reason Codes > (Edit the reason code) > Add the appropriate CALPADS Transfer reason code under State ID Mappings). The reason codes can be found in the CALPADS code documentation.
If you are unsure of what code(s) to use, please reference CALPADS System Documentation.
