The very first step in getting CALPADS ready, is making sure each student has a SSID, or Student State Identification number.
Where to Start

1. Click on Reports.
2. Under Admin, select Select Reporting.

3. Select the report CALPADS SSID Request (SENR) Extract.
*Although the report is labeled with an academic year, it does not change from year to year.
Generate Report

Select the Site ID (4) you wish to run this report for. It can be run at the District level.
The Academic Year (5) will default to the current academic year.
If desired and optional, is to Include Unenrolled Students (6) by selecting Yes or No, which would include students who are not yet enrolled.
When ready select Generate Report (7).
Once the report generates, it will Display (8) the report based on the previous settings.
You have options to download the files in a variety of options such as Microsoft Excel, PDF, CSV, or More/Other Formats (9).
Before submitting a request, you must review and correct the Validation Logs (10).
Validation Logs
Each record that needs to be validated will appear in this log.
Select View Details (11) to open the record or information that needs to be corrected before submitting SSID requests. This will provide more information on the error and how to fix it.
Note: Use CTRL or CMD to click and select View Details to open in another tab. This will keep the current tab in your browser open, while you investigate the log in another tab.
View Details
Preview the results of log you chose. This will present a list of errors to adjust, correct, and review.
Select the Student ID (12) to be directed to the student's profile.
For each record, the Validation Error (13) will provide information on where information is missing and needs to be updated.
Note: Use CTRL or CMD to click and select View Details to open in another tab. This will keep the current tab in your browser open, while you investigate the log in another tab.
Regenerate Validation Logs
If and when all records are corrected, generate a new log. If no logs are available, you have no records or errors to correct! You are now ready to download and submit an SSID request to CALPADS.
If a new log is created, repeat above steps in locating which errors to review and correct.
Download SSID Request File

Generate the report one last time. Once generated, select the More (13) button to choose a particular file type called CALPADS (14).
Select Download (16) to download the CALPADS appropriate file format, to submit for request.
Submit to CALPADS
Once you have downloaded the appropriate file format, DO NOT OPEN IT! This file needs to be uploaded into your CALPADS account to request SSIDs. Here is where Illuminate can't help too much since we do not have direct access, but we can give you the link to their documentation: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ds/sp/cl/systemdocs.asp.
Once they have generated the new file in your account, you will download it and remember, DO NOT OPEN IT!
Next Steps
Now that you have downloaded the appropriate file, you are ready to learn how to Import SSIDs.
