This lesson will guide you on adding and managing ELPAC Summative Assessment scores. The ELPAC Summative Assessment is given only to students who have previously been identified as an EL based upon the Initial Assessment results.
For more ELPAC information, visit https://www.elpac.org/resources/faq/ to get started.
Before you get started, make sure that you have:
- Imported available ELPAC Summative Assessment Data using our Upload State Assessment Data - don't manually add each one!
- Permission to manage State Known Assessment Data
Did You Know?
Students will take the Summative Assessment if:
- the student has a primary language other than English
- the student has taken the CELDT or ELPAC before, and
- the student has not been classified before as an English learner
Why?
In order to measure how well they are progressing with English development in each of the four domains, students who took the initial assessment will also take the summative assessment. The results are used as one of four criteria to determine if the student is ready to be reclassified as fluent English proficient, to help inform proper educational placement, and to report progress. Every year students who are English learners will take the ELPAC summative to measure their progress in learning English.

Edit ELPAC Summative Assessment

When manage existing student data or adding new student data, there are particular required fields to record to have students scores generate within available ELPAC reports:
- Select the Assessment Type you are entering data for, which should default to Initial.
- Select the Grade Assessed the student was for the initial administration.
- Enter the Test Date when the student was administered the test.
- Select the Attemptedness which provide options such as Non-Completion, Partial Completion, & Completion.
- Select the Include Indicator which provide options such Did not test, Tested and received ALT condition code, and Student met completion/attemptedness.
- Optional but helpful for stronger data collection is to use Optional Local Use as notes such as "Manually added by [name]" or anything to document the addition or edit of the student's scores.
This is most common when adding scores for students who were not part of your Assessment import. If you want their scores included in reports and widgets, you must do the required fields.
Additional (Optional) Fields

Fields that will appear from imported assessment data or available to manually edit, are the following:
- Overall Scaled Score
- Overall Performance Level displays a level of 1-4 based on their overall scaled score cut off points
- Oral Language results such as Scaled Score, Standard Error of Measurement, and Performance Level can be entered here.
- Written Language results such as Scaled Score, Standard Error of Measurement, and Performance Level can be entered here.
- Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing Performance results ask for one of the following options to be selected of Well Developed, Somewhat/Moderately, or Beginning for each subject area.
Select Save to confirm changes.
While some fields are optional for basic reporting and widgets available, it is important to enter as much assessment results data as possible so that your educators can best serve the student.
