This abstract contains information about each type of chart available when adding a chart to a Custom Report.
Chart Type Options
Settings contains options to change how the chart looks such as the type of chart. The current type selected is outlined in blue, which by default is a column graph when starting to create a chart.

Chart Types are available when creating a chart, however, not every chart type is perfect to represent the report. The following chart types may be selected:
1. Column Graph

Default Chart Type
Details:
- Data is lined up vertically into columns, from bottom to top
- Used to compare things between different groups
- Used to track changes over time with larger change
2. Bar Graph

Details:
- Data is lined up horizontally into bars, from left to right
- Used to compare things between different groups
- Used to track changes over time with larger change
3. Stacked Column Graph

Details:
- Data is lined up vertically into columns, from bottom to top
- Comparing many different items and showing the composition of each item being compared
4. Stacked Bar Graph

Details:
- Data is lined up horizontally into bars, from left to right
- Comparing many different items and showing the composition of each item being compared
5. Percent Stacked Column Graph

Details:
- Data is lined up vertically into columns, from bottom to top to a max of 100%
- Comparing many different items and showing the composition of each item being compared
6. Percent Stacked Bar Graph

Details:
- Data is lined up horizontinally into bars, from left to right to a max of 100%
- Comparing many different items and showing the composition of each item being compared
7. Pie Graph

Details:
- Displays data best without a series
- Comparing parts of a whole and does not show changes over time
- Represents numbers in percentages and total sum of all segments
8. Donut Graph

Details:
- Similar to Pie Graph, but removes the distractor of the size of the slice
- Displays data best without a Series
- Comparing parts of a whole and does not show changes over time
- Represents numbers in percentages and total sum of all segments
9. Line Graph

Details:
- Great with multiple categories or series
- Used to track changes over short and long periods of time
- Used to compare changes over the same period of time for more than one group
10. Scatter Plot (X-Y Plot) Graph

Details:
- Used to show relationships between two different things
- The X and Y axis each measure an area
- If one increases there is a positive relationship.
- If one decreases, there is a negative relationship.
- If there is no pattern, there is no relationship between the two measures
11. Data View

Details:
- Different than the custom report view
- Show results of data being visualized
- Not student-centered but rather data centered
