Description: This is an abstract for Reference Materials, an online testing tool that can be used on individual items it is linked to in the creation process.
Purpose: Provides an explanation of how the Reference Materials work and the student view.
Navigation: Assessments > View Assessments > 'Title of Assessment' > Administration > Online Testing > Test in Portal > Tool Settings > Reference Materials
Supported Assessment Types
Reference Materials are available for Item Bank Assessments only. They can only be used based on the item setting or disabled. It cannot be enabled across the entire assessment.
Reference Materials Review
Reference Materials are documents that are linked to an individual item on an Item Bank assessment.
The default for this tool is to Use Item Setting, meaning any item that has a Reference Material attached will automatically be available for that specific question.
If you are creating your own items and want to add a Reference Material, you can upload one under Reference Material on Step 2 (Details) of the item creation process. Accepted file types are jpeg and png.
Student View
For students to access a Reference Material:
- Select Tools.
- Click on the name of the Reference Material.
- Click and drag anywhere on the material to move it around the screen.
- Click the X to close.
