In this lesson, you will review how to send messages to parents and guardians using the Classroom Message Center.
Where to Start
There are two methods for users to access the Classroom Message Center. One way to access the message center is to expand the "Account" Tab at the left navigation and click on "Messages".
Another way to access the message center is to select the envelope icon from the page header.
Option 1:If you are sending a message to all the parents in the school, please select "Mass Message" from the Inbox window
Note: You need specific user permissions in order to use the Mass Message function. If you need to have these permission, please contact your school's Classroom Administrator.
Option 2:If you are sending a messages to specific users, please select the "Compose" button.
Note: Regardless of which function you use, you will only be able to message parents that are currently registered to PupilPath.
On the "Send a Mass Message" or "Write a Message" page, please select your recipients.
Mass Messaging:If it is a Mass Message, you have to a specific list of recipients: Entire School, All Staff, All Students + Parents, All Staff + Students, All Parents, and All Students. Please select Entire School, All Students + Parents, or All Parents.
Specific-User Messaging:If it is a regular message, you will be presented with multiple options. You can Add a Group, Enter Staff, Enter Parents or Enter Students. All message recipient textbox's have a built-in search function. All text boxes have the ability to search by name, but the parent textbox has the ability to be searched by student name and e-mail address.
Note: You can also enter the parents/guardians as recipients by selecting a group and then clicking on "Add Parents" button from the Options section.
Note: If you want to send a message to only the parents/guardians and not their students, keep the students listed in the students textbox and uncheck the "Send to Students" tick box. This option is also available if you do not know the guardian's name.
When done selecting recipients, simply write out your message and select the "Send" button.
