This student guide will assist students with using the locked browser app for PC or Mac during online testing.
After logging in to a locked browser, the only way to exit is with an administrator password or to shut down your device.
Where to Start
You will need the following:
- Your student portal username and password from your classroom teacher OR
- The access code for the assessment your teacher has assigned to you
- An PC / Mac set up with Internet, the ability to log into your Portal account / illuminate.online, and the Lockdown Browser installed by your school's IT team
Locked Browser for PC / Mac: Student Steps
Option 1: Through Your Student Portal Account
- Log in to the Portal and click Take Assessment.
- Select your assigned assessment from the available list.
- Click Launch Assessment Browser.
- Click Open LockDown Browser OEM. This will lock your PC / Mac and launch the LockDown Browser app.
- Choose Begin Test to open your assessment and complete the test.
- Once you've answered the questions, you can Finish the test.
Option 2: Through an Access Code
- Go to illuminate.online. Enter your student ID, username, email address, or state student ID, and the access code provided by your teacher.
- Confirm the information on the screen.
- Click Launch Assessment Browser.
- Click Open LockDown Browser OEM. This will lock your PC / Mac and launch the LockDown Browser app.
- Choose Begin Test to open your assessment and complete the test.
- Once you've answered the questions, you can Finish the test.
