In this lesson, you will learn how to hand enter or edit student data into a flexible assessment. Your account will need the permission Can Administer enabled.
This is perfect for Teacher Graded items, such as rubric or performance based questions!
Where to Start
- Go to Assessments.
- Select View Assessments.
- Select the title of an assessment.
- Click on the Administration tab.
- Select Enter / Edit.
Find Students
- Use the search filters to find the students you wish to enter/edit grades for. Depending on your role, you may need to select a school, teacher, course and section from the filters.
- You can also choose to view all students or students with/without data using the View drop down.
- Click Find Students.
Enter Responses
'by Grid' View
Enter a whole assessments worth of responses for ALL students at one time. Students are listed to the left of the page, and the question numbers are listed to the right.
- Add or change students' answers by re-typing them into the cells/boxes.
- \You can fill down any column by entering a value into a cell. Click on the cell, then click and drag the box at the bottom right-hand corner down.
- Rubric questions will feature a dropdown for users to select values. Users can also type directly into these cells.
- You may opt to enter a particular Date Taken date. If you leave the field blank, it will automatically fill with the current date.
- Click the Constructed Responses button to filter for constructed response questions only.
- Once you Enter/Edit scores, the page will Autosave if the Autosave box is checked. If this is unchecked, you can manually save by pressing the blue Save button after you are done entering your scores.
The Tab key on your keyboard can help you move to the space on the right. The Enter key on your keyboard will move you to the space underneath.
'by Student' View
Enter Responses by Student: Enter a whole assessment's worth of responses one student at a time.
- Enter responses in the Result column.
- Answers will display here if the assessment was administered online. Note, you can also leave comments for students in the box below the question (visible in the Student Portal).
- You can navigate between students using the dropdown menu or the arrow keys.
- The page autosaves by default. If unchecking the Autosave feature, be sure to click Save before moving on to another student or a new page.
'by Question' View
Enter Responses by Question: Enter an entire class rosters' answers per question. Also, you can view Constructed Response questions easily via this option.
- Enter responses in the column to the right of the student's name.
- Answers will display here if the assessment was administered online. Note: You can also leave marks for Constructed Response questions. Highlight what you'd like to mark and you will see a box with options like 'run on', 'spelling' etc. You can also enter comments for students in the box below the question.
- You can navigate between questions using the dropdown menu or the arrow keys.
- The page autosaves by default. If unchecking the Autosave feature, be sure to click Save before moving on to another student or a new page.
