In Illuminate, each user is assigned a role such as system admin, principal, or teacher. Those roles are assigned role levels in Role Management. That role level controls which users can be accessed via Become Another User. We have a safety feature enabled that only allows users to assume the identity of a user whose role is lower than their own. In this case, the role of substitute teacher has the same or lower role level as teacher. Therefore, the substitute cannot access the teacher's account. The resolution is to adjust the role level of substitute teacher to be higher than teacher. For example, if teacher is 300, then substitute should be 301.
