Hi Matt and Jamie,
I have been tasked with making it easier to analyze academic interventions. Not only for specific interventions at the district level but to make sure students that were in Tier2 or Tier3 interventions don't get missed the following year. I have been thinking about some possible improvements to eduClimber to see what you think.
1. [Purpose: to be able to track specific programs for effectiveness over multiple year.] Currently, we can only view 1 school year in the filter settings for "Academic Interventions," but what if we want to see all the students in Tier 3 Remediation Plus interventions for over the past 5 years to see how well the program's effectiveness is? We currently would have to pull up the 5 different years and the graphs would be for each individual year. I would have to export the data and merge the tables myself and make my own graphs in excel. Is there a reason we can only pull one year at a time in the filter?
2. [Purpose: to be able to track students from year-to-year better and make sure they are not missed] Interventions are tracked by tier and are year-specific. In the data wall, we just see a orange or red dot in the year-level data wall if a student had a tier 2 or 3 intervention. I would love to have a way to pull up a multi-year data wall with more academic intervention columns.
- For example, I would love the intervention column to be added for each of the years I pull into the wall. I would pull up the grade 3 literacy data wall for the years 2019-20 and 2020-21. One intervention column would be for the 2019-20 literacy intervention, and one column would be for the 2020-21 intervention column. In addition, in the intervention itself for each student, I would like to have the interventionists put in the recommendation for further steps in a pull-down list that would include: Stay in Tier 3, Stay in Tier 2, Move to Tier 1, Move to Tier 2, Move to Tier 3, Refer for SPED, Moved Away. Whatever is selected at the end of the intervention would also be listed in another column next to the intervention in the data wall. This way I could view the 2019-20 and 2020-21 data wall for grade 3 together in one place (fill in the blank for other grades), view the 19-20 interventions, see the disposition, then make sure a 2020-21 intervention has been created for the student in the correct tier. This will help make sure we don't miss a student from year-to-year with a possible intervention the student would need.
Would eduClimber/Illuminate be interested in this product improvement?
Thanks for considering.
