How are the tools within Illuminate designed to help educators improve equity?
Equity Feature Spotlight: Student Scope Selector Tool
What it Does: The scope selector appears in dozens of places in Illuminate. It allows the user to determine what lens they want to analyze your data through. For instance, they can choose to look at all students, students designated English Learners, students in special education programs, students in specific courses or any combination of traits.
How it Helps Improve Equity: The days of viewing data only through the lens of the whole group are gone. The scope selector allows us to analyze data through multiple lenses and impact success for ALL students. What if you were able to see that your special education program is composed of mostly EL students or that students in your afternoon class performed dramatically lower on weekly quizzes? This tool allows educators to make those determinations and adjust instruction, programs, etc… to support ALL students!
